Wines and the Combe House 'philosophy'

It is very easy to put together a long list of wines, which reflect more of a desire to impress rather than to please. We feel that wine is more to do with pleasure and enjoyment rather than pomposity and snobbery. We are immensely proud of our wines which are excellent examples of their regions and style. They are all wines that have been through a rigorous ‘blind-tasting’ process and have been selected according to their taste rather than on their ‘name’ or vintage. Whilst profit is an important factor in Combe House being able to function as a comfortable hotel, quality is always the determining factor in our selection process.

The Combe House Wine Selection

Our wines have been chosen to reflect the mood of the season and the nature of the produce that is available at this time of year. There are rich, fruit-driven white wines with great purity of fruit to suit all palates and moods and reds that are eminently suitable with game and full-flavoured meat dishes. We have included a weighty fruitiness that is ideal for the season – rosé is not just for summer!
