COMBE HOUSE, DEVON WINS SILVER AT THE NATIONAL
ENJOY ENGLAND AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE 2008

Combe House has won a coveted national Small Hotel of the Year Silver Award 2008 at the ‘Enjoy England Awards for Excellence’, the highest accolades in English tourism.  Presented at St George’s Hall, Liverpool on 23 April the awards, known as the tourism ‘Oscars’, celebrate the very best quality, help to raise standards across the industry and secure England’s place as a world-class holiday destination.

Owners Ken and Ruth Hunt are thrilled with the award, “This unexpected honour for our small, country house hotel reflects back on the wonderful, welcoming, happy and hard working team whom we regard as our family,” said Ken. “We are also fortunate to be in a stunning location with the West Country’s larder right on our doorstep. We couldn’t have achieved it without the honesty and integrity of the people who look after us so brilliantly from the local plumbers and electricians to our wine suppliers and local food producers. Ruth and Ken were absolutely delighted when their staff at Combe House were awarded the coveted The Country Hotel of the Year UK and Ireland - Good Hotel Guide 2007 and The Devon Restaurant of the Year 2006 - Taste of the West.



As well as the views of hotel judges, the award selection was based on comments from guests who visited the hotel and passed on their views to Johansens.

Ken said ‘What a fantastic reward for all the commitment and hard work that our wonderful team has put in over the past three years. Everyone is thrilled to bits that Combe House has received national recognition from guests for service and hospitality’.



Since then, the team has won several more awards including 'Best Restaurant in the South West of England' in the Taste of the West Awards, 'Restaurant of the Year 2005' and 'Most Distinctive Local Menu' in the Devon Life Food Awards.
