The Ark Chicken Company, Hele, Nr Exeter – Some of the finest poultry in England |
Jason and Michaela Wise and their young family have been farming and processing traditionally reared free range chicken for many years. Their chickens are reared in the true sense of “free range” as opposed to some of the modern interpretations of free range. This means the chickens are kept in small flocks and sheltered in moveable ‘Arks’ so their pasture is always fresh. And because the Arks are so well insulated this provides the chicken with a shelter, which is cool in summer and warm in the winter. A sophisticated fencing gives the chicken the option to roam outside both day and night.
The chickens are reared at Roosters of Babylon, Silverton, Devon.
- Ark Chicken are fed an all-natural diet of wholesome GM free corn with the added goodness of scratchin' and peckin'
- Chicks slowly matured on the farm from one day old
- The chicks are Hubbards which have been selected because of their suitabilty for free-range and organic production
- Reared in small flocks on constant fresh green pasture
- Sheltered in traditional moveable arks with natural light and natural ventilation
- The birds are caught and processed on the farm in the dark hours ensuring minimum stress, in a purpose built facility
- The birds are hung long-legged for 4 days to ensure optimum flavour and texture
- Individually hand finished for a top quality presentation
- Delicious traditional taste - 'just like a chicken used to be'
- This continuous care and attention to detail ensures our products are premium quality, to continue to provide this we are reliant on being able to place birds and rear them against planned deliveries.
